PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy and confidentiality are essential to any counseling relationship.  Your trust is important to me, and I am committed to honoring your privacy.
It is out of concern for your safety in case of emergency, that I ask for your name and contact information.  Information you share with me in the course of our conversation will not be released to another person, except under those rare circumstances, when I am required to report it.   These circumstances include:

If I think you plan to do something that poses imminent danger to yourself or to another person.
If our conversation gives me a reason to believe abuse of a child or dependent adult may be taking place.
If I am ordered to do so by a court of law.

Finally, please be aware that despite best efforts to keep internet based communications secure, there is always some small possibility of a breach of security.   In agreeing to accept online counseling services, you agree to accept that risk. You can of course reduce the risk by securing your own computer.  Security software is also available to protect our online communications.
