SPIRITUALITY

The spiritual journey
We are all in the process of becoming who we are meant to be.
When the journey is going well, we know it.  Our lives offer an interesting balance of challenge and comfort.  We look at our relationships, our work and our everyday lives, and have no doubt that we are at home in the world.
The landscape of our lives is full of hidden opportunities for greater self knowledge, and clarity about our proper place in this world.  This exploration is the spiritual journey.  It is not limited to religious people, although many religious people are open to this journey.  Those who have  a passion for music or the wilderness, or serving a just cause, are on a journey too.  Our deepest loves, including our cats and children and turtles, are great spiritual teachers.
When we have temporarily lost our way, we feel a vague, nameless loss.

Spiritual guidance
Many of us have had strong voices along the way, advising us about wise choices and warning us of danger.
At some point, we find ourselves wondering if we are living the life that we meant to live, as distinct from the one envisioned for us by our teachers.
Sometimes it is helpful to have some objective companionship on the journey of discovery.

Spiritual guidance is a conversation that helps identify the right questions.
The only person who will recognize the correct answers is you.
Spiritual guidance is an empowering, thought provoking experience to help you learn to trust your inner compass and to find your authentic path.

Healing is part of this process.  Sadly, many people have spiritual wounds, the impact of negative people who have discouraged us, disrespected us or overlooked us.  We are immobilized by sadness, from incomprehensible losses in our lives.   Some have experienced spiritual abuse in religious settings that discouraged healthy questioning, or offered harsh judgments.   Spiritual guidance can help us heal.

I practice spiritual guidance in the contemplative tradition.   This practice is not uniquely affiliated with any one religious group  or doctrine; however,  it is compatible with all the major western religious traditions, and with the journey of seekers who do not identify themselves as religious at all.  Some describe it as a practice seeking to recognize the divine spark within all of us.

May you find peace.
